A bacon burger is a classic and indulgent dish that combines a juicy beef patty with crispy bacon, cheese, and your favorite toppings. It's a crowd-pleasing favorite for burger enthusiasts.
- 1 pound (about 450 grams) of ground beef (preferably 80% lean, 20% fat)
- 4 hamburger buns
- 8 slices of bacon
- 4 slices of cheese (such as cheddar, Swiss, or American)
- Lettuce leaves
- Tomato slices
- Onion slices
- Condiments of your choice (ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, etc.)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Preheat your grill or stovetop griddle to medium-high heat.
- Divide the ground beef into four equal portions and shape them into patties, about 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick. Use your thumb to make a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from bulging while cooking. Season the patties with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Transfer the cooked bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess grease.
- Place the beef patties on the preheated grill or griddle. Cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until desired doneness. For a medium burger, aim for an internal temperature of about 160°F (71°C). During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on top of each patty to melt.
- While the patties are cooking, you can also lightly toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster if desired.
- Once the patties are cooked to your liking and the cheese has melted, remove them from the grill or griddle. Let them rest for a few minutes.
- Assemble the bacon burgers by placing a cooked patty on the bottom half of each bun. Add a couple of slices of crispy bacon on top of the patty.
- Layer lettuce, tomato slices, and onion slices on top of the bacon. Feel free to add any additional toppings or condiments you prefer.
- Place the top half of the bun over the assembled ingredients to complete the burger.
- Serve the bacon burgers immediately with your favorite sides, such as french fries, onion rings, or a fresh salad.
